Dosages:
  • IM: Premedication: 2.5-10 mg (1 to 4 ml) in 30 to 60 minutes preoperatively.

  • IV: Adjunct to General Anesthesia - Induction: 2.5 mg (1 m1) per 20 - 25 pounds along with an analgesic and or general anesthetic. Dose has to be titrated and adjusted as it may vary from one person to another. Maintenance dose is 1.25 - 2.5 mg (0.5 to 1 ml).

  • IM: Adjunct to regional anesthesia: 2.5 - 5 mg (1 to 2 ml). When additional sedation is required it can be administered by IV route slowly.

  • IV: Neuroleptanalgesia: 5-15mg at induction with an opioid analgesic.

  • IM/IV: Cancer chemotherapy induced nausea & vomiting: 1-10mg 30 minutes prior to starting chemotherapy, followed by continuous IV infusion of 1-3mg/hour or 1-5mg by IM/IV route in every 1-6 hours as required.
